🔓 Bootloader Unlock

Unlock Bootloader

Wipes everything. Samsung Knox trips permanently on unlock — no way back.

  1. Back up all data — unlocking factory resets your device
  2. Enable Developer Options: Settings → About Phone → tap Build Number 7 times
  3. Enable OEM Unlocking in Developer Options
  4. Enable USB Debugging in Developer Options
  5. Connect to PC: adb reboot bootloader
  6. Unlock: fastboot flashing unlock (older: fastboot oem unlock)
  7. Confirm on device screen — wipe happens immediately
  8. Device reboots to stock setup wizard

  1. Read through the instructions at least once before actually following them, so as to avoid any problems due to any missed steps!
  2. Make sure your computer has adb and fastboot . Setup instructions can be found here .
  3. Enable USB debugging on your device.
  4. Boot your device with the stock OS at least once and check every functionality. warning Warning: Make sure that you can send and receive SMS and place and receive calls (also via WiFi and LTE, if available), otherwise it won’t work on LineageOS either! Additionally, some devices require that VoLTE/V
  5. Remove all Google accounts from your device to avoid “Factory reset protection”
  6. LineageOS is provided as-is with no warranty. While we attempt to verify everything works you are installing this at your own risk!
  7. On the device, dial *#*#7378423#*#* ( *#*#SERVICE#*#* ) to launch the service menu.
  8. Go to service info > configuration and check rooting status - you can only continue if it says Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes .
  9. Go to System Settings > About Phone and record the first IMEI number, which is necessary to get an unlock code from Sony in a later step.
  10. Connect the device to your PC via USB.
  11. On the computer, open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and type: adb -d reboot bootloader You can also boot into fastboot mode via a key combination: With the device powered off, hold Volume Up and connect the USB cable. The notification light should turn blue.
  12. Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC finds it by typing: fastboot devices check Tip: If you see no permissions fastboot while on Linux or macOS, try running fastboot as root.
  13. Follow the instructions on Sony’s official unlocking website to generate an unlock code for your bootloader.
  14. Use your code to unlock the bootloader of your device: fastboot oem unlock <your_unlock_code>
  15. Since the device resets completely, you will need to re-enable USB debugging to continue.
  16. Download a custom recovery - you can download TWRP . Simply download the latest recovery file, named something like twrp-x.x.x-x-tsubasa.img .
  17. Connect your device to your PC via USB.
  18. On the computer, open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and type: adb -d reboot bootloader You can also boot into fastboot mode via a key combination: With the device powered off, hold Volume Up and connect the USB cable. The notification light should turn blue.
  19. Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC finds it by typing: fastboot devices check Tip: If you see no permissions fastboot while on Linux or macOS, try running fastboot as root.
  20. Temporarily flash TWRP to boot : fastboot flash boot twrp-x.x.x-x-tsubasa.img check Tip: The file may not be named identically to what stands in this command, so adjust accordingly. Remember to adjust the filename in the following commands as well.

Root with Magisk

Keep a backup of the original boot.img. Magisk is systemless — safer for updates.

  3. Install Magisk app on device
  4. In Magisk: Install → Select and Patch a File → pick boot.img
  5. Copy patched_boot.img to PC
  6. Flash: fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
  7. Reboot and open Magisk to verify root

Requires kernel-level support. Not all devices are supported.

Buying & Selling Modified Devices

Unlocked bootloader = lower resale value. FRP locks are illegal to bypass on a device you don't own.
